The Autumn Foliage Run

Sunday October 6th was a dull damp and overcast day but it didn’t deter many club members from coming on the Autumn Foliage Run.

Most opted for their everyday cars but David Smith and myself brought along our MG’s.

The route left Bowburn and went via Hett and Brandon to Tow Law and on to Stanhope.

From Stanhope we climbed up Crawleyside Bank on to Blanchland for a welcome cup of coffee at the Monk Tearooms. Leaving Blanchland we headed North on the Hexham road as far as Slayley where we headed East passing through the village until we met the A68 and South to the Derwent Manor Hotel for a delicious Sunday carvery lunch.

The afternoon was a short run back to Stanhope and the Durham Dales Centre for afternoon tea and cake.

Despite the inclement weather and travelling in the low clouds so not seeing much of the amazing autumn landscape (and autumn foliage) nineteen club members had an enjoyable day out on our last run of 2019.
