It was a cool clear evening and 18 club members met at Bowburn Services for a short but very pleasant run out and a mail. The run went to Esh Winning and round the top of Langley Park then down through Lanchester and on towards Leadgate where we stopped at the Jolly Drovers public house for our supper. This was our Second show at Chester le Street Riverside Park and thankfully the weather was kind allowing us all to enjoy the day our thanks goes out to everyone who made the day a success. We had many car enthusiasts visiting from other clubs withn the area including the American Car Club, North East Triumph Sports Six Club, Morris Minor Owners Club as well as many other independent exhibitors. Sunday the 23rd of April was bright and sunny and 52 cars turned up at the Beamish Hall Hotel for our annual Bobby Shafto Hills of the North Run, Brian Crook won the longest distance travelled award by driving up from Staines in Middlesex for the event.
After some coffee/tea and excellent home made biscuits we set off. The run was a new route that headed west via Tanfield and Whittonstall to Corbridge and then North up through Northumberland to a welcome lunch break at Otterb
Wednesday the 15th March saw twenty club members turn up at The Prospect in Penshaw for a convivial get together and a meal. I had a very tasty meal of spicy chicken goujons and sweet chilli dip, there was a lot of food on the plate, so much that I had no room for a pudding. The night passed very quickly with lots of friendly banter and it was soon time to head for home. A great night, thanks to Kev Stewart for organising it, must do it again.
I was given a supercar driving experience by my son and daughter for my 60th birthdaylast year. I finally got round to booking it at Oulton Park in Cheshire this month! I had the choice of numerous Ferraris including an F430, a Californian and a 458 Italia, Lamborghini’s included a Gallardo, a Murcielago or a Hurracan.
