Pateley Bridge was full of suprises, for me the most interesting was the
new MG XS. A pre-production example caused a lot of interest although it was badged a ZS the production ones,
which should be available in October, will be badged XS. While the exact engine options have yet to be confirmed, it's understood that the XS will have a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol as the main option, a diesel alternative is likely to be offered. Gearbox options include a six-speed manual and a seven-speed automatic. The car is aimed at the small to medium SUV market similar to the Nissan Juke (but better looking) and will be priced very competitively between £12 and £14k. The XS will be significantly cheaper than its key rivals, and will also be only £2000 cheaper than the GS, which is currently priced from £15,095. Worth considering if you are in the market for this sort of car.
