Ryhope Engines End of Season Show

Sunday the 30th of October was bright and sunny which meant there was a good turnout of cars for the Sunderland & District Classic Vehicle Society Ryhope EOS Show. The show is very popular as you can just turn up on the day and show your car, there is no pre booking, the only downside is if the weather is good then it fills up fairly quickly.

The onsite café is a welcome place with roaring fires that warm you through in the autumn weather as well as tasty bacon sandwiches for a very reasonable price.

The pumping station was built in the 1860’s around a huge steam powered beam engine which was built by R & W Hawthorn at a cost of £9000 and it remained in service until 1967 providing drinking water for the local area.

Many different motor clubs attend the show as well as stationary engine clubs and motorcycle clubs
