The Autumn Foliage Run
Sunday the 8th of October. It was bright and sunny as 15 MG’s and other cars assembled at Bowburn Services for the run which headed out towards Durham before passing through Tow Law and a short journey up the A68 to Muggleswick. After a very autumnal ride through delightful narrow tree lined lanes over to Edmundbyers and then into Blanchland in Northumberland where we had a welcome stop at the Monks Tearoom for a coffee.
Leaving Blanchland we headed North on the Hexham road before turning right towards Whittonstall and Kiln Pit Hill. We then turned South for a few miles to the Derwent Manor Hotel where we had a superb carvery lunch. Suitably replete we took the shorter home run to the Durham Dales Centre via a very picturesque route passing Allendale and St Johns Chapel and other smaller villages. It was a glorious day worthy of the Autumn title.
Many thanks to Tony Quinn for his help in creating this super day out.
